DESCRIPTION:
Join us as we head north on our 6 day trip through Michigan and Ohio.
You feel almost like you have stepped back in time while you are are on Mackinac Island, a resort which feels much as it did 100 years ago. Gone are the noises of automobiles because transportation while on the island is limited to horses and bicycles. We spend two evenings at the Lakeview Hotel where you can relax in the many rocking chairs looking out onto the main street. We have an informative carriage tour of the island, followed by a visit the luxurious Grand Hotel and the elaborate Lunch Buffet.
Two days later we are on our way to "Michigan's Little Bavaria", Frankenmuth, where we enjoy an included dinner at the world famous Zehnder’s of Frankenmuth Restaurant. The next day we visit, Bronner's Christmas Wonderland, where it is Christmas all year long.
Next is our visit to The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation. Hosting an amazing collection of the history of transportation (and more) in the United States, its collection includes historical trains, planes, and automobiles. These are also many other non-transportation pieces of US history, including rare presidential artifacts.
As we head home, we stop at the National Museum of the United States Air Force, in Dayton - home to the Wright Brothers. The largest museum of military aircraft anywhere in the world, you can literally walk through time and see everything from artifacts from the Wright Brothers to the Apollo 15 command module.
